Today we decided to turn ourselves over to someone to guild (and drive) us to the city of Siena and the countryside of Chanti - good move, Sehon! Siena is an old walled city with everything entact. It is amazing to see the actual wall built 1000 years ago, more churches - one with the head and finger of St. Catherine - those Catholics like to keep their saints around!
Driving thru Chanti country is one Kodak moment after another. The best part was ending the day at a very unique farm, complete with wine and products from the farm. The hansome Farmer (see picture) grows thousands of plants of: grapes, lavendar, rosemary, roses, peaches, olive trees, apples and probably other things I have forgotten (all organic, Deanne).
We returned to San Gimignano for the night. Leaving for Roma tomorrow.
BTW: loved the gelatto pics from F.L. We had our daily dose from Chanti.
P.S. Truffel season is over, but we did have some extra virgin olive oil with white and black truffels in it-extremely deliciouso, and expensive!
To Blue Zone buds: have we got some new recipes! Cannot wait to share!
